Volunteering with Narthex

Most of our volunteer needs during the pandemic are within the Foodbank. Here you would help to receive, sort and store donations and then to make up the food bags appropriate to different family needs.

Volunteers are the life blood of all Narthex activities. Your skills could be just what we need. We rely on the skills and generosity of the local community who give their time to help their neighbours in need. We currently have over 60 volunteers across our six centres but with the recent increase in demand, we need more help! Whatever role you choose, you will make a real difference to the life of someone in crisis.

Even if you can only spare a couple of hours, it would be a great help. If you are interested, please complete an Application Form and return to foodbank@narthex.org.uk

Local volunteers

Local communities and churches are also able to volunteer from time to time, most often at Christmas and Harvest, by collecting food from shoppers at their local supermarket where such arrangements have been made. At times, Narthex will itself buy bulk essentials at supermarkets using funds provided for this purpose. The van is often busy collecting food which is sometimes also kindly offered free by supermarkets.
